Dubsado Proposal Design: Making A Great First Impression

You’ve just come off an amazing consultation call with a new potential client. The vibes were good, the excitement is high, and all you have to do is get this proposal perfect and they’ll say yes.

Dubsado is already doing some of the heavy lifting for you with its proposal feature, which you can send as part of a workflow that will ultimately guide your couple through contract signing, deposit payment, and onboarding. But before all of that, you need to make an amazing first impression with your proposal.

I look at your proposal as your last selling point before someone decides to work with you. Some people may have already decided to go for it, but others may need time to think it through or are waiting for extra information to decide. Maybe your process is long and they like to gather their thoughts. Either way, your proposal needs to really do the job - and look good at the same time.

To me, a client experience pro, the last thing you want to be doing after a consultation call is sending your potential client an email with a wall of words in it about what’s next. The proposals you can create in Dubsado are the closest thing to your website and self promotion you can get, so I have some tips on how to get it really, really right.

Here’s some examples of proposals I’ve built for clients

7 Ways to Make a Great First Impression with Dubsado Proposals

  1. Customise it with your branding - colour, fonts, logo and imagery. Dubsado makes it really easy to make it look like yours

  2. Use smart fields to create a top section that pulls through your client’s name, project start date and other important information, such as their venue if it’s a wedding booking

  3. Consider an ‘about you’ section below your welcome - but choose whether this is necessary depending on how well your clients already know you

  4. Make it clear and easy to see where your offer is, and give the option to select add-ons straight away. This saves lots of back-and-forth emailing about what the different upgrades are and whether they want them, and you can even have your clients select quantities - for example, 2 extra blogs if that’s the service you’re offering

  5. Always include an FAQs section, to tackle any last reservations, doubts or questions your clients might have before booking

  6. If you’re a visual business such as a brand designer, florist or photographer, you could also show a handful of images of your best work here too

  7. A testimonial section never goes amiss, with actual words quoted from a happy client - either make your proposal longer and include two or three in full, or pepper short quotes or sentences throughout

After all this, don’t forget to be really clear on what their next steps are. What do they have to do to confirm the booking and move onto the next stage, contracting and invoicing.

What Makes Dubsado Proposals Better Than Canva PDFs?

The benefits of having your proposals within Dubsado rather than making a pretty PDF in, say, Canva, include the reduced time it takes to make them and the interactivity of the document. It’s also really easy to pull in information from other places without starting from scratch, so your proposal template can be standardised for every client or adaptable when you need to change it.

It is possible to add snippets of code if you want to personalise your proposal even further, for example to add custom fonts - I often add this when I do Dubsado builds, whilst making sure it’s still easily editable in the future.

Dubsado Proposal Templates

Purchase my Dubsado proposal template.Fully customisable and editable with different package layouts so you can make it suit your business. Different businesses need different layouts, for example if you’re a VA you might need three options for different levels of support for people to choose from, whereas a brand designer might need one package plus add ons.

All of this is available as an option in my proposal template, plus a library of videos to show you how to customise everything.
